Christel Dahlskjaer - girl geek extraordinaire.

The name is Christel, I'm pushing  thirty and finding it quite terrifying. I spend most of my time working and studying and have long since come to the realisation that I will be one of those annoying life-long learners who will  reach 60, have a wide variety of qualifications yet absolutely no idea, still, about what I'd really like to do when I grow up.

I spend way too much of my 'spare time' infront of the computer, my laptop usually goes wherever I go (whomever said dog was mans  best friend had clearly not owned a nifty little notebook!) and I can often be found sat on a picnic blanket in the park, accompanied by the entire freenode userbase via my laptop. Some things tempt me away from the computer though and I am rather partial to a game of cricket, be it at the ground or an impromptu two-man backyard game.

I love Cricket in all it's ways and forms from the quick and exciting Twenty20 matches to the Ashes and all in between. In my house you'll often find the Cricket on TV with the sound muted and TMS on the Radio and I love Henry Blofeld more than most.

Besides my  love for all things Cricket I love football, although, I no longer play. I'm a dedicated Gashead and support Bristol Rovers with my entire being. As luck would have it most of the football action takes place in the off-season  (Cricket) allowing me to travel across the country to watch Rovers play,  take in some local colour and visit many of the Pubs suggested to me by Beer in the Evening and a nice pint of the finest local ale never goes amiss after a day watching the Pirates!

Bar my Sky Sports subscription I could happily do without television, even if I am partial to a few shows such as Black Books, Dr Who, Futurama, House MD, Invader Zim, Leage of Gentlemen, Spaced, The Mighty Boosh and The Simpsons. My tastes in music are varied and range from Mozart to Marilyn Manson -- I will  happily listen to anything provided it's not western!  Like most people though, I have some favourites, Against Me!, Bad Religion, Manic Street Preachers easily top the list.

I have a bit of a crush on Patrick Stewart aka Captain Jean-Luc Picard (he makes me want to let him insert it). I am passionate about many things, books, computers, technology, the internet, sports, FOSS, friends, sunflowers, burning candles, music, cooking/baking, growing plants (I've become one of these odd  creatues who will talk to their many houseplants), boxing, clay pigeon shooting, cricket, football, fishing, retro computing.

I'm a fluffy feminist. Used to be a shameless flirt. I'm a geek. I'm much more conservative than what most people would guess from speaking with me. When I was little I wanted to become a Russian spy. I am terrified of spiders and other creepy crawlies or flying insects. I loathe the texture of peas. I find cookies dipped in coffee a little bit magical. I love the smell of vanilla. I have never broken a bone. I like challenges.

My dream date would take me out for a day watching F1. I get mad crushes and I am terrified of commitment. I contradict myself. I agree, but I disagree. I want too much. I like to receive letters, I don't like writing them. I write them anyway. I am impatient. I am vain. I am scared of choices. I am curious, impulsive, easily confused, terribly complex and occasionally cute.
